information we collect
to function as an interactive companion, smokey processes the following information:
message content: when you talk to smokey or mention the bot, recent channel messages are temporarily stored in a local rolling database buffer to provide conversational context to the artificial intelligence.
user memories: smokey can write notes about your traits, names, and preferences into a local markdown text file associated with your discord user id. this allows smokey to recognize you across conversations.
donated api keys: if you use the /donate command, we store the submitted api key alongside your discord user id to reward you with supporter roles and expand the bot's capacity.
guild metadata: server configurations, active channels, names, and basic settings are saved locally to customize smokey's responses on a per-server basis.
how we use your data
your data is solely used to power smokey's features:
to generate contextual responses using secure artificial intelligence APIs (including Google Gemini and DeepSeek)
to maintain your user memory file across conversations
to verify and apply donor rewards in our discord community
we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data with any third parties for advertising or profiling.
third-party processors
messages processed by smokey are analyzed by external ai backends (Google or DeepSeek). data sent to these providers is subject to their respective policies and terms of service. we encourage you to review their policies directly:
we do not pass personal identification information (such as your discord token or avatar) to these endpoints.
data control & deletion
you always have control over your data:
erasing memories: you can run the /forget command at any time to instantly delete your stored user memory file.
revoking donated keys: you can delete or regenerate your api keys at any time in google ai studio, which will immediately invalidate our copy of the key.
server cleanup: when smokey is kicked or removed from a server, all related channel histories, guild buffers, and local configuration files are deleted.
